Raley's has always been my go to store. But now they have made it completely impossible for a customer like myself to come in and buy one or two items with the self checkout being card only. I'm sure I am not the only one who doesn't mind using their card when they are grocery shopping and the cart is full, but when you want to buy only one or two items using cash you now have to wait in a checkers line where everyone has full carts and have to usually wait 15 minutes or more just to buy one or two items. I did bring this to the attention of the manager and was told that the reason for the change is because pennies are no longer produced. I only wish they could see how foolish they sound when they say stuff like that, because this country has enough pennies in circulation to last at least 2 more decades.

What a poor design they made at the self checkout in the Carson City store. I'm sure Raleys has enough money to hire someone to bulild a correct way to enter the self checkout. Because they obviously do not care about customer safety, if there was ever to be a fire in this store, customers would be knocking down all those sparkling water drinks they have as a guide to enter the self checkout. But this is NV so customer safety is not always a concern.

Was in the store this morning and went through self checkout a couple of times to grab some snacks to eat I the cafe. The worker at the self checkout was a woman with shorter blonde hair and glasses. She was wearing a purple shirt. Both times as I walked right by her she just looked past me and totally ignored me. Most Raley’s employees either thank me and or tell me to have a nice day. She had a sour look on her face the whole time. When I first worked for Bel Air 30 years ago, we were trained to treat all customers with courtesy and respect. That woman needs to be retrained. Also I noticed that all the workers are dressed differently, in other words apparently there is no uniform dress code. That’s confusing for the customers. Raley’s standards have really gone downhill. What a shame.

This is my go to grocery store if only because it's close to home and for the most part, they are typically well stocked with everything I want and need. Without question, prices tend to be higher than the Save Mart near by but then, that store doesn't have quite the selection or even freshness of produce that I enjoy here. Aside from price, my main reason for not giving this store a full 5 start review is that it does not have a butcher or bakery like other Raley's I've shopped at. Granted, they usually have a good selection of meats but there are times I wish I could order something specific. Otherwise, the staff here is friendly and while they can get crowded just before dinner (5-6 pm), you're pretty good to go just about any other time of day. They do have self checkout stands too but more times than not, the customers using them are way slower than just waiting in line at an attended check stand.
